Marketing On X

X – a platform that focuses on conversations, discussions, and, sometimes, gossip is a great place to be when you’re looking to increase organic traffic, conversions, and overall growth for your business.

If you are looking for PR and Hype for yourself or your company, you might want to take a look at this platform from a marketing perspective. Tweet-tweet… X, formerly Twitter, reports to have over 550 million monthly active users, 535 million of which are monetizable!

Elon Musk acquired Twitter for a staggering $44 billion in 2022 and rebranded the social media network to be the “everything app,” which now has lifestyle, payments, and social media combined under one roof.

The platform focuses on real-time information like news and updates, and everyone can interact with everyone. X is a place where short-form content thrives, and while discussions are more its style, it also accepts media like videos and photos.

Pro Tips For Marketing On X:

Authenticity: While trends are important, your brand authenticity should take the lead on this platform. When building your X marketing strategy, focus on sharing your knowledge and educating people on the subject relating to your business rather than pushing a product or service directly. Everything you do on X should represent you, your brand, and your values. When engaging with posts and people, be professional and talk about things that relate to your niche, but also have fun and show your real human side.

Discussions: Merely building a profile and X-ing your fingers (ha-ha, get it?) and hoping anyone will see it is not a good route… that is, if you want to see results, of course! And that goes for any social media platform. Conquer your fear or ego of posting and commenting “first,” and just do it. Engagement from your end is what creates the much-needed momentum for future interactions. Participating in discussions and commenting on posts related to your expertise will bring you exposure and organic traffic. When engaging with others, focus on building genuine connections and friendships that will lead to lucrative collaborations and partnerships (Networking 101).

Polls and Q&As: Once you’ve caught your momentum, encourage your audience to engage with your profile and constantly keep them engaged. Consider leveraging polls and Q&As to boost engagement and participation from your audience! We often look for answers and, sometimes, even questions we didn’t think to ask. X is the platform for you to ask good questions, share insightful responses, and engage in cordial debate and dialogue; as per X, “Defending and respecting the user’s voice is one of our core values at X.”

Visuals: While written informational content takes the lead on the platform, spicing it up with occasional pictures, memes, or short videos is important. The human brain is designed to respond to humor and visuals, and while AI is slowly taking over the world, your target audience is still human (hopefully).

X Business: According to X Business, it “offers unique targeting options to expand your reach.” It offers an easy-to-navigate campaign builder platform and even courses that will teach you step-by-step how to be successful while using X for your business.

X also offers analytics tools, Timeline Takeover (which puts your brand at the top of X’s search engine), Media Studio (a platform that allows you to manage and monetize your content), and many more tools – all designed to help you succeed.

Common Sense: If you find yourself in a lucrative partnership with Elon Musk and X, consider, at a bare minimum, not disrespecting the big boss in a tense interview (i.e., don’t be a Don Lemon…). 😆

Closing remarks

Using X to grow exposure for your business can take some time to gain momentum; however, when that momentum picks up, the platform supplies you with all the tools needed to succeed.

Remember, momentum tends to die down, so it is important to keep up with the best practices and prioritize quality content even after you’ve obtained a following and received engagement. The tools are there for support but they are nothing, without your hands-on efforts.

Happy tweeting or “xeeting” or whatever Elon is calling it nowadays!
